Are you keen to tackle energy poverty head on? Join CEES for its first Open Day featuring a site visit, presentations and workshops (30 November, London, UK, and online).

The first Open Day (in a series of four) will showcase CEES solidarity mechanisms to identify and engage people in energy poverty. Fresh off of finishing their pilot projects, CEES partners will share their experience and insights to stimulate a collaborative discussion about how energy communities and other organisations working against energy poverty could adopt or adapt proven practices. A key theme will be how to make projects more inclusive of underrepresented groups.

Join us in London or online!

For those in London, the day is off to an early start with a site visit; after lunch, the session switches to a hybrid format, and anyone can join:

09:00 – 09:30 Welcome

09:30 – 12:00 Site visit with Repowering London

For the site visit, Repowering London will take us to Roupell Park Estate, one of the oldest community energy projects in the city – including a rooftop visit to see their photovoltaic installation. Then it’s down to the community hall to engage with diverse stakeholders: energy advisors, community champions and Repowering colleagues who have been involved from the beginning.  By learning about how Repowering London operates, participants will better understand how to set up their own community energy projects.

12:00 – 13:30 Lunch

13:30 – 15:00 Ways to identify and engage with people in energy poverty

CEES partners have found it more challenging than expected to identify and engage with people in energy poverty. They will present their experiences – and invite participants to ask probing questions and share additional insights.

15:00 – 16:00 Workshop on lived experiences of energy poverty

CEES recognises that the lived experiences of diverse socio-economic groups has so far been underrepresented in the community energy movement, and also in energy decision-making more broadly. In a series of breakout sessions, this workshop will take deep dives into meeting the needs of specific vulnerable groups in your community.

16:00 – 16:30 End of the Open Day with coffee and cake.
