After three years of piloting various ways that energy communities (ECs) can apply energy solidarity mechanisms to tackle energy poverty, CEES is thrilled to be showcasing its journey at upcoming events.

The experience of CEES Partners confirms that ECs CAN and DO have an important role in a just, clean energy transition. We hope our work will help push governments to establish more supportive legal and policy frameworks, encourages ECs to take up solidarity measures, and convince investors/funders of the social value of supporting the non-technical work required.

We hope you’ll be able to join us live or online to learn more about the challenges faced, successes chalked up, and lessons learned along the way. Each event will feature the soon-to-be released Energy Solidarity Toolkit.

📅 25 April 2024, 📍 Zagreb, WESPA Spaces (Radnička 50)

CEES is thrilled to be invited to present at the Good Energy Festival, organised by our partner ZEZ (Green Energy Cooperative). The Festival is all about community energy and will cover a variety of topics – from financing opportunities and setting up local partnerships to the (new) role of ECs in the EU energy market and recent innovations in supportive policy.

In sessions dedicated to how ECs can actively tackle energy poverty, CEES Partners will join energy poverty experts to share experiences and insights, as well as inspiring practices to face the challenges and leverage the opportunities ahead.

📅 14 May 2024, 📍   Prague

When EC enthusiasts gather in Prague (13-15 May) for the European Energy Communities Forum and REScoop.eu’s General Assembly, CEES will be on site and on the agenda. Drop by our exhibit booth or join one of the CEES workshops on Tuesday afternoon (14 May):

14:00-15:30 / Workshop: Envisioning and enacting energy communities’ role in a just transition

This workshop will explore the potential of ECs to become a driving force for energy justice, particularly by delivering locally produced clean energy at affordable prices. Join in to gain insights from inspiring examples and to discuss the barriers that currently block progress and undermine the tremendous potential of ECs to deliver valuable social and economic impacts.

16:00-17:30 / Workshop: A Toolkit for Energy Solidarity

CEES has the good fortune to get centre stage in this session! Partners will take participants on a guided tour of our Energy Solidarity Toolkit, which outlines how ECs can actively participate in tackling energy poverty. The Toolkit offers practical information on how to implement specific activities or mechanisms while also highlighting challenges ECs are likely to face when working from the bottom up.

📅 28 May 2024 / 10:00-12:00 📍   Online

No time to travel across Europe? No worries! CEES is hosting its final Open Day online.

Building the capacity of other ECs to practice energy solidarity has been a key activity in the last months of CEES.

In this final webinar, Partners from the University of Birmingham will first share their evaluation of the impacts that CEES pilot projects had on people in situations of energy vulnerability. They will also share tools to help other ECs evaluate the impacts of their own energy solidarity actions.

In the second part, CEES Partners will speak frankly about barriers they encountered and opportunities they were able to leverage when implementing energy solidarity mechanisms in their own communities. In addition to getting practical tips about the various ways ECs can help tackle energy poverty, participants will gain insights into what it takes to truly mobilise energy solidarity at the community level.

CEES looks forward to exchanging information and experiences with the ever-growing community of ECs at one or more of its Spring Tour events! And if you can’t join us in person, don’t forget to follow us on social media:
